“From the time I was a small child, I dreamed of becoming a mountain man in my hut in the hills. So, about 20 years ago, I left my home in Tokyo and came to Myoko.
“In my university days, I climbed many mountains both in Japan and in Europe, but around my 50th birthday I and some of my old classmates began taking on the challnge of the Seven Summits—the highest mountains of every continent. I have to admit, I love to talk about my dreams, the mountains and skiing (ed.—and he’s famous for doing just that on evenings at Yours Inn!).
“In March 2009, we set off for Mt. Everest; we all safely returned to Japan on May 27. I was on the final attack team, but because of poor heath I wasn’t able to join those going for the summit. It was all made possible by many supporters, including many of the friends we have made at Yours Inn—I'd like to thank all of you.
“I have lots more stories to tell from my travels to Kilimajaro, Mt. McKinley (Denali), Mt. Everest, Mt. Aconcagua and others, and many photos as well. I look forward to sharing these with our guests, and hope to hear your stories as well!”
